Brown County Backpack Program
This program provides backpacks of food for local students, each weekend, who may not have adequate food options at home. 56.9% of students in the Brown County school system qualify for free or reduced lunch. Students are provided breakfast and lunch at schools during the week but on weekends the family may struggle to provide healthy meals.
Youth who qualify for free lunch through the Brown County school system will receive a backpack filled with four healthy breakfast items, four lunch items, four dinner items and two snacks. This food may be shared with the family.
New Life Community Church provides hot chocolate packets for those backpacks. There is a collection basket in the upper lobby throughout the school year to donate to this important ministry.
